A plan of the building should be displayed close to the control panel showing entrances, escape routes and zones.
Fire Plan
A requirement under the new Fire Safety Order is that you mustprovide a scale drawing. Previously, the Fire and Rescue Service would issue you with a fire certificate, which you could produce if they asked to view the layout. Now this responsibility rests with you. The scale drawing can be approximate but must contain a layout of the area, what fire safety management systems you have in place, where they are and any potential hazards. If the Fire and Rescue Service is ever called to your premises they may ask to view this before entering the building as they will then have a rough idea of where things are.
If you have high risk premises, it is important you have these drawings to hand, but also the Fire and Rescue Service may request to visit your site so that they can get aquainted with the layout.
